The exhibition will have a unique connection with the Petone Foreshore, some craftsmen have carefully selected driftwood pieces that have washed up on Petone beach and transformed them into beautiful carvings.
Artspace gallery resident woodturner, Hugh Mill will be joined by other artists such as, Graeme McIntyre – leading NZ Turner, who has won a number of national woodturning competitions, and well known carvers of wood, Phil Quinn, John Spittal, Archie Kerr and Jim Howell.
Four of Petone's shoreline birds by master carver, Archie Kerr which he carved out of driftwood which he found on our beach and around the harbour. The exhibition 'From the Forest to the Shore' is on together with the exhibition 'From the studio of Jane Sinclair' two of Janes beautiful bird watercolours can be seen above Archie Kerr's carvings.
